Kenwood

Kenwood lies east of Sonoma Creek in the upper part of Sonoma Valley, often referred to as the Valley of the Moon.

Mud Flying, Feathers Soaring, and Timeless Fun

Did you know the Pillow Fight Championships began right here in Kenwood, California? For over five decades, this lively event has been filled with mud splashes, flying feathers, and joyous celebration—bringing together community, family, and the spirit of freedom. It all started when two local groups organized charity events to fund town improvements. One of these events grew into the World Pillow Fighting Championships, where a steel beam was set across Los Guillicos Spring Creek, the creek was filled with mud, and the pillow fights made history.

Nestled east of Sonoma Creek in the upper Sonoma Valley—also known as the Valley of the Moon—Kenwood offers a charming collection of restaurants, shops, tasting rooms, and a historic train depot. Just minutes away are Sugarloaf Ridge State Park and Hood Mountain Regional Park, both famous for their stunning natural beauty and extensive hiking and biking trails. On clear days, visitors who reach Bald Mountain’s summit in Sugarloaf Ridge are rewarded with breathtaking views stretching from Sonoma Valley all the way to the San Francisco skyline.
