Guerneville

Today, a 200-year-old stand of redwoods has been preserved at Armstrong Woods Park.

Once home to the densest redwood forests on the planet, Guerneville transformed into a bustling logging town in the 1880s. Named after Swiss immigrant George Guerne, the town earned the nickname “Stumptown” thanks to its thriving sawmill industry.

Today, visitors can explore the majestic 200-year-old redwoods preserved at Armstrong Woods Park, while the Russian River remains the heart of the community for the roughly 4,500 residents spread across 10 square miles.

Since the late 1970s, Guerneville has grown into a beloved LGBTQ+ retreat, attracting weekend visitors from nearby San Francisco. The town now proudly hosts the Sonoma County Pride Parade and Celebration every first Sunday in June — a vibrant testament to its welcoming spirit.

At Adler, we embrace and celebrate the unique character and inclusive communities that make places like Guerneville so special.
